Welcome to ArLA community Australia

Belonging to a community strengthens social cohesion; together we can create positive change in our profession and society.

Our Mission

ArLA Community Australia is a volunteer-led, run as a non-profit organisation that supports Latin American women in architecture and related fields as they contribute to the Australian professional and cultural landscape.

Our primary purpose is to promote reconciliation, mutual respect, and tolerance by addressing systemic barriers that prevent skilled female migrants in the architecture, design, and construction sectors from fully participating in professional and community life. By challenging discrimination and fostering understanding between Latin American and Australian cultures, we create pathways for their knowledge, experience, and cultural perspectives to contribute meaningfully to the Australian community.

We pursue this purpose through educational activities and shared learning opportunities that build skills, amplify diverse voices, and strengthen cultural awareness in the profession. In this way, advancing education supports our reconciliation goals and ensures our work delivers lasting public benefit to both the industry and wider society.

Testimonials

“After four years living in Australia, I discovered the beginnings of ArLA, a community dedicated to connecting women facing similar experiences. At that time, I felt isolated from my professional community and disconnected from others who shared my cultural background.
I have now been part of this community for three years. Through ArLA’s activities and support, I have learned to recognise the value of my skills and to understand better how to adapt them within the Australian context, which has given me greater confidence and a sense of belonging. Today, I feel empowered to continue growing as both a professional and as a member of the broader Australian community.”

Support Us

Help us create pathways for female Latin American architects and graduates to contribute their skills and perspectives.

We are committed to breaking down systemic barriers that exclude skilled female migrant architects and graduates from equal participation in the profession.

By addressing these challenges, we strengthen diversity, gender equality, and intercultural understanding in Australia’s architectural industry,  creating lasting benefit for the profession and the wider community.

Disclaimer: ArLA Community Australia Limited is a community organisation that does not provide architectural services or advice. We do not act as an architectural practice or connect our members with clients for the provision of architectural services.
